Whitmore Park Primary School is within Coventry City Council situated 2 miles north of the city centre. We are a 3 form entry school teaching pupils aged 3 to 11 years (Nursery to year 6).

Our Vision

Be the best you can be!

To provide our children with an ambitious and aspirational curriculum to ensure they can be the best they can be.

We want our children to leave Whitmore Park Primary School ready to embark on the next stage of their education, to be equipped with the academic skills and knowledge and have developed the personal attributes needed to enable them to become successful citizens of the future.

Our children learn responsibility and develop a sense of self, celebrating their diversity, demonstrating respect for others, enabling them to understand their place in the world.

Values

Our school values will enable all children to flourish and reach their full potential within an inclusive, safe and stimulating setting:

Respect – show acceptance, understanding and compassion

Growth – embrace challenges and learn from mistakes to fulfil your hopes and aspirations.

Kindness – commit to helping others through being friendly and considerate

Community – work together in safety, friendship and belonging

Honesty – do the right thing, showing good manners and morals.

Our children will be able to articulate, discuss and demonstrate these values and their meaning not only within the school, but also as they continue their journey and learn to make a positive contribution to society.

Our school rules are based on five key values. We teach our children these values to support their moral development and to prepare them for life in modern Britain.

British Values

As part of the value system, we actively promote and encourage the fundamental British values which permeate through all aspects of school life, and link with the values of Whitmore Park Primary School. These are:

Democracy

The Rule of Law

Individual Liberty

Mutual Respect

Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

These values are regularly promoted through high quality teaching, a rounded programme of collective worship and assemblies and a positive behaviour policy. This provision allows pupils to develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain. As well as teaching our pupils, our active promotion of these values also means we challenge pupils, staff or parents who express contrary opinions.

School Opening Times

The school is open from 8:45am until 3:15pm. This is a total of 32.5 teaching hours.

History

The old Whitmore Park school was built in 1951. We are delighted with our new build which was officially opened on 1 May 2014.

Community

Whitmore Park School is a very large primary school. We have many pupils from a range of ethnic backgrounds and celebrate the diversity of cultures within our school. We are situated in an area primarily surrounded by private housing however we take many of our pupils from outside the catchment area. Within the school we have provision for twelve pupils with Special Educational Needs statements for Speech and language difficulties.

In April 2014 we moved into a new state of the art building situated on the current site. We are based on a large site which we hope to develop to provide extensive provision for outdoor learning and sports.

We are based in the heart of a lively community, near to a large outstanding secondary school and shopping area. We work closely with other partners in the community and look forward to developing this work further.
