“Ambitious young minds are the future leaders of our community”
At our school we feel it is important that pupils feel happy and secure so that they can work to the best of their ability and make good progress. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum which covers all aspects of school life and not just the subjects viewed as part of the National Curriculum. School life aims to provide all pupils with the skills they will need for life in the 21st century. We encourage the pupils to set themselves realistic and ambitious goals which provides them with a sense of achievement and raises their self-esteem.
Pupils need to feel a sense of ownership of the school they attend which places emphasis on pupils’s responsibilities to treat all people with respect and to be caring of each other. The expectations we have of our pupils encompass our school values which seeks to promote the development of the whole-child within our society by nurturing a desire to be successful and ambitious.
The old Whitmore Park school was built in 1951. We are delighted with our new build which was officially opened on 1 May 2014.
Whitmore Park School is a very large primary school. We have many pupils from a range of ethnic backgrounds and celebrate the diversity of cultures within our school. We are situated in an area primarily surrounded by private housing however we take many of our pupils from outside the catchment area. Within the school we have provision for twelve pupils with Special Educational Needs statements for Speech and language difficulties.
In April 2014 we moved into a new state of the art building situated on the current site. We are based on a large site which we hope to develop to provide extensive provision for outdoor learning and sports.
We are based in the heart of a lively community, near to a large outstanding secondary school and shopping area. We work closely with other partners in the community and look forward to developing this work further.
